i hope this isn’t a disappointment to anyone, but the childe neka is part of the fucked up yandere long fic that i’ve been working on for months now. he’s not actually a vampire; i just personally hc that he has pointed ears and sharp incisors (that he mysteriously developed when he was in the abyss as a teen). i’ve spoken about this au so many times that i’m afraid people will get bored of hearing about it; there’s an in-depth explanation of it here if you’re interested!

First of all, I've been reading and LOVING all your jealousy prompts for the batman villains right now, especially Hatter ❤️.

But now I can't help but wonder if the tables were turned. Like, what if instead, the READER (most likely, another Rogue! Reader who is already has an established relationship with Hatter) was jealous of someone giving some sort of attention to him. How would he react to noticing readers feelings on the matter. Sexy divorced dad 😌 A bit of a sleaze like Pete HOWEVER he is goofy enough that I could let it slide. He gets put higher because he learns to be a better person - he has that I could fix him vibe. And by fix I mean less gambling and a shower.

However, if we're talking beginning of the movie, he'd 2000% take advantage of your kindness. You wanna do acts of service? By all means. Expect nothing in return though. (Hence his ranking)

8. James Mace (Sunshine)

Surprisingly low for me! I do love a broody, moody side character HOWEVER I'm terrible at confrontation and yelling (two of Mace's fave things lmao) so he's earned his place here. After yelling at you for something he'd either be a sweetheart realising after you were upset or double down. But you wouldn't exactly want to be subject to it more than once in a blue moon, ygm?

7. Ransom Drysdale (Knives Out)

I am sorry Sweater Daddy but you're best placed here 😔. Three words: Spoiled. Rich. Kid. Which some of the others do fall into BUT Ransom in particular would be a terror, I believe. Partly due to his upbringing but my patientce would TESTED.

If you were nice to Ransom he'd take advantage but potentially feel bad about it.... much, much later. Or, you know, realise that you're soft for him and have no ulterior motives and he will just melt into goo. He's not used to having people be nice without strings 🥺

Every Steve is a good Steve imo - one of the first CEvans crushes I ever did have 😚 probably because of the movies there's a lot of interesting aspects to his character (but we will be ignoring the Endgame ending 👀). Honourable, loyal, kind... you know this man is a romantic at heart (but I still eat up dark!Steve fics too). You just know he'd treat you RIGHT 😍

4. Frank Adler (Gifted)

A new addition! I watched Gifted a few weeks ago and I'm??? So soft??? He's a bit of a double threat, grumpy but also charming. And like with my top two I am SOFT for a guy who's good with kids (which is why Andy and Jack don't rank higher 💀). I'm hoping to finish the fic I have for him ASAP.

3. Lloyd Hansen (The Gray Man)

This is a very big HEAR ME OUT 💀

I love love love campy villains who are still able to be terrifying. I was unsure about the 'tache at first and thought it would be a completely serious role and was PLEASANTLY surprised that he was just as dramatic, sassy asshole.

So, naturally, I love him.

Also, really well dressed. Apart from the loafers which make me cackle - tights shirt and pants??? Um, yes please? Don't even get me started on the ring.

2. Curtis Everett (Snow Piercer)

Brutish. Giving Stray dog vibes. In desperate need of a cuddle (and shower and hot food). Also one that surprised me, actually. I'd read fics, seen clips but then I watched snowpiercer... and yeah, like Frank I was down bad. Despite writing him with the emotional capacity of a brick, I like to think that he's soft after warming up to you.

I’m a mother of 3, and my middle child just turned 8. I read your tags. I cannot even FATHOM taking my child, dropping him off in a parking lot to make him think that I’ve abandoned him, and then come back and say “you should appreciate me.” ………… ffffffuckk that. The instance with your mother also, I can’t even imagine telling my child something like that. My heart absolutely aches for you. Legit I’m furious, I’m crying and my hands are shaking. No child should ever have to go through something like that. I am so so sorry you didn’t have the foundation you should have had in this world and it’s RIDICULOUS for people to say you didn’t succeed because you weren’t focused enough holy shit you were just trying to SURVIVE. My mother and step father were not abusive, but they were somewhat misguided and they did not help me get a good start to adulthood. I remember being told “you’re an adult, figure it out” at like 18. So I can imagine the kind of hardships you faced and I think you deserve all the grace in the world for your situation.

As someone who has written fanfic since (I’m a couple years older than you lol I’m gonna date myself here 😅) 2003, I know all the times that fanfic was literally the only thing in my life that was keeping me going, specifically the kind and wonderful interaction I received from reviewers. It made me feel like I wasn’t so alone, it made me feel like I had people cheering for me and people in this world who cared about me.

Your MtB series has been living rent free in my head since I found it. Like you find that one story that just takes up all your thoughts and you reread it before bed like a lil bedtime story (shut up you know exactly which chapters I keep rereading 😆🤭) and I am so interested and invested as to where it will go next. As soon as you mentioned Reader was glowing I was like hey that’s like Base12’s fic! I was really pleased to see yours was inspired by that one! Ford is my favorite Gravity Falls character and I love how much you understand him.

Yeah it's funny you say that because I often look at children interacting with parents on the street and think to myself 'wow they're so little, I couldn't imagine doing something like what my parents did to me'. I literally step aside to let kids through on the pavement because I'm afraid that if I brush up against them as I walk by I might knock them off balance or something lol. Ahh I'm so glad you like the series! I definitely write for the same reason in the sense that I hope it offers some small comfort to other people because it was one of the only good memories I have from childhood. I used to spend all my time reading fics and living in this different world, and I guess my intention is just to offer that to someone else. I agree! I feel like the fandom really just dwindled Gojo's character down to either an idiot or some type of playboy and while I think it's fun to explore characters in whatever version you choose to see them, I can't help but be a little protective over Gojo 🥺 I feel like his immature behavior shouldn't equate to him being so two dimensional ...but I'll stop myself from rambling!

This is an interesting question!!

A part of me wants to separate Geto as the "good" version and "bad" version, but honestly that's hard to do. I feel like Gege does a great job at emphasizing the qualities of humanity - in which nobody in the world is perfect, and the constant question of morals and reason are one of the major themes in the story itself.

There is tragedy in being a jujutsu sorcerer, and what I love about the story is that they highlight that.

As evil as Suguru was, he embodies the morally grey character really well to me - the turning point of what made him become a villain is rooted in a reason that I can empathize with, which was Riko's death.

I think he's always had an ego, which is why I'm not surprised about his ability to be able to manipulate, but I think Riko's death was his biggest failure and maybe even had him questioning the purpose of his responsibilities that he once strived to uphold. I also think that's the point where his own darkness starts to make it's presence known, and I think for somebody who once was following the "right" path, it must have been difficult for him not to cross over, especially when he was so impacted by what happened.

Suguru still really cares, because his snaps after finding Mimiko & Nanako caged and beaten. He immediately sees himself in those two girls, and I think that was his deciding factor.

My point is, his reasons for being "bad" are still centered around compassionate emotions. Like, a good contrast would be Mahito, who I feel like is evil for evil's sake.

I literally just read a SatoSugu fic today by @half-baked-biscuit and she said this line which I feel like perfectly describes Suguru's character: “...I learned I’m only appreciated for what I can do, not for who I am.”

His downfall fed into some crazy ideals, but honestly all I keep seeing is somebody who is broken. I think in a way he balances Gojo's character really well - because as Gojo grew stronger and began to follow the path that Suguru was already leading, Geto just wound up crashing and burning in the end.

This is the reason why I love villains/morally grey characters because they are so multi-dimensional and complex as hell! I totally get what you're saying, but I think the fun part of Suguru's character is understanding that he is neither inherently good or evil 😊

I really love what you said about your writing, I think fiction writing can be a great outlet for processing emotions and self-reassurance. It’s like what I said last time, it’s easier to not get caught in a downward thought spiral if you’re looking at the scenario from another person’s perspective, say a romantic interest in a fanfiction. It’s easier to self-soothe when it doesn’t feel like it’s you soothing yourself. But also it can be really beneficial for those who don’t necessarily have the courage or the articulation to put these feelings to paper and write out another person genuinely breaking down those negative thoughts. Does that make sense? I really do feel like you write very poignant and moving stories and I hope you continue to do so. Also yeah, the Danny fics unfortunately never really get a ton of traffic which is a damn shame bc Danny deserves the world.

2. I actually love both coffee and tea! I drink coffee in the morning and tea before I go to bed (sometimes ~extra special~ weed tea) ☺️

And I loved loved loved Keigo's POV, too--you actually had me feeling bad for him and rooting for him for a second when he stood up to the Chief! ALSO THAT MR. I’m honestly not the biggest fan of victorian definitions of floral symbolism (because it’s based in their rigid societal views) but some of it is very very interesting and it’s always fun to include flower symbolism in stories based in the Victorian era

Steve Harrington x Original Female Character

Summary: After Violet- formally 003, a telekinetic, electrokenetic, and clairvoyant 19 year old- loses her first family, her first love, nothing is the same. She finds herself taken in by Hopper and El, struggling to find her footing and meaning to keep fighting. The Party, especially Steve Harrington, try to show her where her strengths have been hiding all along, and that no one has to fight their battles alone. Sometimes you don’t need to be rescued, but someone’s love and support while you rescue yourself sure doesn’t hurt.

Word count: 2,789 (this is the second half of what would have been one whole chapter lmfao but anywayyy)

Content warnings: PTSD, mentions of abuse, and a whole lotta heartwarming fluff this chapter.

Author’s note: howdy y’all!! I’ve been genuinely shocked that anyone likes this story at all and it’s been really really reaaaaally cool to see anyone read this, so thank you!!! (I know like... 10 notes on a fic ain’t much, but I really didn’t think anyone would read this?? So I’m really thankful 🥺) feedback is always appreciated!! 💜 this chapter is a bit short compared to the last few- technically this is the second half of what chapter 3 would have been if I kept it whole lol. It’s mostly dialogue between Violet and Steve (it’s soft bitch hours y’all!!!!) and probably the most fluffy and wholesome chapter yet. Also I’ve mentioned before how both the title of the fic and each chapter title are from certain songs I’ve been listening to while writing- so I was wondering if y’all would be interested in me sharing the whole playlist?? Chapter 4: Misguided Ghosts

The sun was starting to set, painting the skies in shades of purple, pink and orange. Sunsets were one of those simple things that brought Violet more comfort than most. Sunrises, too. She never had the luxury of enjoying either during her life in the lab. She rarely saw the sun, if at all.

They were reminders that she made the right choice, leaving, that is. The simple beauty of the world made her wonder how anyone could lock another human away for indefinite amounts of time. How could someone take that away from another human being?

The kids were catching fireflies in mason jars around the cabin, while Hopper was snoring away, knocked out on the old glider on the porch. Violet and Steve watched the kids running and playing from the hood of his car. The kids were teaching El all about fireflies, and her eyes lit up with the same curiosity they held when Violet taught her about honeybees earlier. A feeling of contentment settled across her heart; this was what it was like to be a part of something. A group of people with love and care. A family.

“So... what can’t you do?” Steve asked Violet while gazing at the sky’s changing colors. He was leaned back on his hands, while Violet had her knees pulled to her chest, arms wrapped around them tight.

“Hm.” Violet pretended to think for a second. “I can’t make a grilled cheese without burning at least one of the slices of bread.”

“No way, I refuse to believe a person as cool as you has a hard time making grilled fucking cheese.” He laughed, and she joined along.

“It’s true! Hopper tried teaching me last week, and it was a disaster.”

“Okay, well there’s your first mistake, having Hopper teach you.”

The laughter only grew between the two, and Violet sensed he was more relaxed than earlier. She held herself back from reading his thoughts, though. It wasn’t fair to him in such vulnerable moments.

“Yeah, good point. He thinks feeding El Eggos every morning is a proper breakfast.” She giggled as she rested her head on her knees while looking over to Steve.

The laughter died down, and a quiet fell over them, but it was comfortable. The kids laughing and yelling in the distance filled the gap of total silence. Steve continued watching them.

“You seem to be a really good influence on them.” Violet brought up after a few minutes. Steve turned to her. “They need that... at least from what I know and sense. Especially Dustin, he really seems to look up to you. My sister really values your impact on the group, too.”

“You sense that too?”

“Nah. I can’t break through to her that way. Not sure if it’s just a conflicting thing between our abilities, but she’s one of the few I can’t sense those things with. Can’t read her either. She tells me, though. Any time you drop her off from spending time with everyone, she always says how grateful she is that the group has you. She’s told me that she’s thankful for Jonathan and Nancy, too, but they haven’t impacted the Party as much as you.”

Steve ducked his head down, bashfully smiling. “Bet she just says that because I give her and her boyfriend rides to see each other.”

Violet laughed, “Well, she’s thankful for that too. But seriously. And I can sense it from the other kids.”

“So you didn’t know all about what happened last year and the year before... with being able to read minds and all that?”

“Just bits and pieces. I knew Dustin felt lost till you kinda came around and became a mentor to him. Mike felt lost till him and El reunited. Hopper was- and still is- very worried about Will’s well being, and Joyce’s too.” Violet said, glancing back out to the group. “I just didn’t know the full details. Didn’t know how you all came to be. There’s some things with you I still don’t know.”

Steve sat up a bit, before he mumbled, “So, why haven’t you read me and my past, yet? It’s pretty much front and center in my mind almost always.”

“Common respect. You’ve never been a threat to me. None of you have. So I don’t dive that deep. I only do it if I’m worried for the person or worried to be around them.” She said. “So, don’t fuck that up, Harrington.”

“Oh, so we’re on last name basis now, huh?” He chuckled, gently shoving his shoulder against hers.

“Not quite, I don’t really have a last name.” She said, rolling her eyes.

“As far as I’m concerned, you seem to be just as much of a Hopper as El and the Chief.” Steve said quietly. Violet’s eyes began to fill with tears, happy ones, but she refused to let them fall.

“I think I still have to earn that, but maybe someday.” She smiled up at him, before picking up the previous conversation again. “I’m willing to listen if you do ever want to talk about your past, though. Judging off of what you guys told me earlier, I have a feeling it has to somewhat do with Nancy, but I don’t wanna pry.”

“Thank you. Maybe soon, yeah?” He responded. “On one condition.”

“Sure, shoot.”

“Okay, well more like two conditions.” He started. “One, I wanna keep learning about you in return for telling you stuff about me. You said earlier there’s a lot to you, and I wanna know. I wanna know what makes up who you are and who you’re growing to be.”

“Alright, that’s absolutely fair, but be prepared for a fucking mess of a story.” She said bluntly.

“You say that like I’m not a mess either.” He smiled. “And two, don’t be afraid to be honest and tell me if you sense something different with me than what I’m showing. Don’t hide it. It kinda intimidates me, honestly, but maybe it’ll push me to get my shit together and stop hiding so much on my end too.”

“Deal.” She stuck her hand out to shake his, and Steve looked at it and hesitated before shaking in return. He was in awe that she reached forward first for physical contact.

“I promise too,” she started, “I won’t read your thoughts without your permission first.”

“I promise to always respect your space. Say the word, and I’ll back off.” He responded. She nodded. “I know a lot of this isn’t easy for you, understandably so.”

“You’re making it so easy to build a friendship with you, what’s the catch here, Harrington?” She asked half jokingly.

“It’s genuine, I swear. I was a dick awhile ago, but I’m unlearning a lot of that. I don’t want to fuck up this potential friendship with my old ways. I could learn a lot of new, good things from you, too.” He said, shoving his hands in his jacket pockets. Violet sensed his vulnerability, but she figured he was well aware of that on his own.

The sun was mostly set now, the woods surrounding the cabin lit up in the glow of fireflies, stars and the full moon rising. A gentle breeze pushed past them and sent shivers up Violet’s spine.

“Hey, you want my jacket? You look chilly.” Steve laughed as Violet tried to hide her chattering teeth. She shook her head.

“I’m okay!” She stuttered out, before she slid off the car. “Wait here.”

“Where else am I going to go?” Steve laughed out as she ran back into the cabin. A few seconds passed before she sprinted back out, cocooned up in the blanket Joyce gave her. Violet slid back up onto the hood, sliding a little too quickly and falling into Steve’s side. Their laughter continued, contagiously bouncing between one another.

“You warm now?” He asked, and she smiled up from the small opening her face peeked out of.

“Very!” Violet chirped back.

“I’m gonna have to take the dorks back home in a bit, wanna come for the ride?” He asked her, and her stomach flipped a bit. The idea of being included in anything at all was surreal to her still.

“Yeah, will there be room, though?” She asked as she glanced back into the windshield at the backseat.

“They can squeeze, it’s not the safest, but I drive like a total grandpa with those kids in the car.”

“And when they’re not?”

“That just depends on the day.”

Violet giggled, shaking her head at him. Steve slid off the hood, holding his arm out for her to hold onto as she slid off too.

“Let’s go round ‘em up.” He continued to hold his arm out to her, and she linked hers with his as they walked towards the party.

An hour or so had passed, and they had just dropped the last younger teen off, who happened to be Will. The kids were squished in the backseat, minus El, who sat squished in the passenger seat with Violet as Steve drove. He stood by his word, driving slowly and safely through Hawkins as he stopped at each kid’s house. By the time the backseat cleared up a bit, El moved to the back, shortly dozing off before they got to Will’s house.

Will sleepily waved goodbye before jumping out of Steve’s car and heading towards the front door. Steve waited until he was inside and shutting the door behind him, as he always did with them. Always making sure they were safe and sound before driving off.

“She’s out like a light.” Violet spoke softly, glancing back at El.

“I think it’s safe to say they’re gonna sleep like rocks tonight. The sun definitely had to have worn them out.” Steve said, mirroring Violet’s soft tone.

Violet rested her head back on the seat, shutting her eyes for a moment. It wasn’t until Steve spoke up when she opened them to look over at him.

“Did you have a good day?” He asked, a hopeful smile played across his face as he continued to watch the road.

“Hmmm... I guess.” Violet teased, causing Steve to roll his eyes lightheartedly at her comment. “I’m kidding. I really did. It was the most fun I’ve had in awhile. Thank you.”

“I should be saying thanks to you instead.” He spoke. “I really can’t express enough how grateful I am that you’ve let us all in to your life. I know how chaotic this group can be, but they all have good hearts.”

“You guys have taken care of El and stood by her side time and time again. How couldn’t I trust you?” Violet said, a sleepy smile creeping along her face. “She may not be my sister by blood, but if the trauma at the lab doesn’t create a strong bond, I don’t know what else could. At least through all of that pain, I found her.”

“You said earlier how I’m good with the kids, and I don’t think you give yourself the same credit for how good you are to El.” Steve said, this time he glanced over at Violet, only for a second before his eyes fell on the road again. “You as a big sister to her impacts her more than you realize.”

“I don’t want her to think I’m replacing Kali, y’know?” She said. “If she ever came back around, I would let my guard down to formally meet her too. She impacted El too. Just wish her well, and hope she finds ways to direct her energy into more positive ways for herself. Living in that anger can be so toxic and it can destroy you.”

Steve nodded, staying silent to continue listening. Violet fiddled with the fringes of the blanket wrapped around her shoulders.

“I don’t blame her, though. And if El held that anger, I wouldn’t blame her either.” She said, spacing out on the road in front of her. They were reaching the edge of the woods now, closer to home than she wanted to be. She wished the ride lasted much longer.

“I still have that anger. I know if I ever saw Brenner again, I’d kill him on the spot if given the chance.” She spoke, clenching her jaw. “But I know I couldn’t live in that anger constantly. It’s unhealthy. I’d take him out so he couldn’t hurt us or anyone else ever again. I couldn’t actively seek him out though.”

“You really believe he’s still alive?” Steve hated asking, but he had to know. Violet exhaled deeply.

“Unfortunately. El has tried using her powers to find him too, but he hasn’t come up. I think he’s hiding, like the coward he is. I think he fled Hawkins after the night he killed Amy and the lab was shut down for good. He’s still out there, though. I never sensed his death. There’s an uneasy feeling present whenever I picture his worthless face in my mind.” Violet spoke, words dripping with pure hate and emotion.

She had every right to feel what she felt. She just wanted him and anyone associated with him to vanish forever. No one deserved to hurt ever again by his cruel and twisted manipulation.

Steve pulled up to the front of the cabin, throwing the car in park. His hand hovered over Violet’s for a moment, waiting for permission. She gently opened hers, palm exposed, and he softly placed his hand down. He gave a gentle squeeze while looking at her.

“You’re allowed to feel this way, y’know. I’d love to throw some punches at the bastard too, if given the chance.” He said, anger rising from genuine protection for his friends.

“While I appreciate the sentiment, Harrington, I heard you can’t win a fight for shit.” Violet stifled laughter, and Steve sighed, letting his head fall against the steering wheel.

“Vi!”

“I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it!” She giggled. He turned his head and gave her a smirk. “I do appreciate you always being protective over us, though. I don’t think I could ever forgive myself if any of you were hurt by him. I can’t imagine it happening again.”

“It won’t, I promise. We’re like, totally pros at this whole other-dimension-monster-fighting nonsense.” He said confidently, putting Violet at ease. He knew she most likely would never need his protection; she was a strong girl, even without the psychic abilities. But those were definitely an advantage, and he knew if it came down to it, he’d probably need her protection more than she needs his.

The thought, for both of them, was comforting.

“You’re right, I absolutely don’t need your protection,” Violet said, exposing what she sensed from his feelings. It still took Steve by shock, it probably always would. Not so common to have friends that were clairvoyant. “But I’m grateful for it anyway. I’m grateful we have you.”

They were still holding hands, holding each other’s gaze, and a strong sense began to flood through Violet’s mind, but she fought it as best as she could. She didn’t want to take advantage of knowing the details of how vulnerable Steve felt in this moment.

“Sorry, I uh-“ Steve cleared his throat, and pulled his hand away, Violet frowning at the loss of touch. “I should let you guys get to bed.”

“Don’t apologize. Thank you, Steve. For everything, today and just... just in general. I’m really happy we’ve become friends.” Violet said softly, smiling at Steve. He smiled back, before glancing at El in the backseat, who still snoozed away.

“Don’t have to thank me, that’s just what friends are for. Family, too.” He said in return. “Want help carrying El in?”

“Nah, I got her, thanks though.” Violet said as she opened her door, glancing back at Steve. “See you soon, yeah?”

“Yeah. Yeah, absolutely, Violet.” He said smiling, but feeling a little bummed at the sight of her leaving the car. Violet gently shut the door, and opened the backseat door to pull El out to carry her inside. It was a funny sight, considering she wasn’t much taller than El, but still carried the younger girl with ease.

“C’mon, kiddo. Ya wore me out today.” Violet whispered to El, waving to Steve as she walked up to the cabin’s front door.

As Violet walked in and went to close the door behind her, she saw Steve wait until she was inside, safe and sound, just like he did for the rest of his friends. Her heart swelled with joy. She had a friend, a real, true friend.

Things were beginning to look up and settle down, finally.
